Painted Sky Is Proud to Announce New Chair of Board of Directors

Jacqueline is a successful grantwiter who has written and been awarded
over $800,000 in grants over her career. These include a two-year $250,000
grant from the Ford Foundation and a $100,000 grant from the California 
Wellness Foundation to fund work with Native youth in the Bay Area.  As
an Executive Director and program coordinator she has led organizations in
identifying their goals and objectives and through fundraising and program
development making it possibly to make these dreams reality.  She has
successfully maintained funding through difficult funding cycles through 
grantwriting, direct appeals to membership and tribes and successfully 
prevented staff lay-offs and under pressure to raise money, actually grew
direct-service programs to Native American communities.  She has also had
a career as a widely-published editorial writer through San Francisco's New
America Media focusing on Native American issues (identity, Indian Gaming,
enviromental issues).  Her writing has been translated into several languages
and republished in newspapers and websites including the San Francisco
Examiner, La Prensa San Diego, Parabola Magazine, Truthout.org, and
Alternet.org and on radio (KPFA Berkeley).  She has also worked as a 
television/documentary producer on the ITVS-funded Homeland about four
Lakota families on the Pine Ridge Reservation which premiered on PBS
nationally and produced New California Media, a newsmagazine tv show
produced at KCSM, San Mateo, California.  She is presently working on a
novel called "Leaving the GIittering World" involving an ancient skeleton,
grunge music and atomic bombs.  She is also a devoted mother and wife to
her two children and husband.  They are a family that can claim membership
in the Navajo Nation in Arizona and (her husband's tribe) the Six Nations of
the Grand River in Ontario, Canada and kinship with the the Yankton Sioux
tribe of South Dakota (her father's tribe).  An intertribal family if there ever
