Jordan has very few natural resources capable of generating vital foreign currency through exports. Jordan is also squeezed between several countries experiencing recent political turmoil, which has resulted in massive numbers of refugees fleeing to Jordan. Moreover,Air Jordan Shoes, political sanctions have recently been put into place against Iraq, an important trading partner. However, considering that Trans-Jordan (as it was known) in 1948 was a country of about 400.000 mostly poor Bedouin, the transformation in the past 50 years or so has been remarkable.
Like most countries in the region. Jordan suffers from high unemployment (officially 15% but possibly double that),Cheap Jordan Shoes, unsettled refugees, poverty and unpredictable climatic conditions. It also relies very heavily on foreign aid. and has one of the highest foreign debts per capita in the world - currently about 100% of the gross domestic product (GDP). This foreign debt is a result of unrestrained increases in population, forcing increased expenditure on infrastructure; poor financial management by the government; and an arms build-up in the region.
Currently, about 30% of the government's expenditure is used to pay off this debt. Since becoming king,Retro Jordans, Abdullah il has been visiting Western allies to ensure that the foreign aid continues, and to ask for the easing and eradication of the burden of debt. He has been successful in the former but not the latter.
